* The Weight of Glory

I read this paragraph again. It is not an unfamiliar sermon. Yep, this quote is a sober read because it simply and aptly says it all of the total weakness of our flesh and its desire. Yet challenges that we ought to strive to have a measure of knowing the weight of God's glory that we may walk as Christ walked and purpose in our heart to live a life that has these words lived out, "Not My will be done but yours" to be our delight. It is inseperable but demands we are set apart for God.

"Indeed if we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that Our Lord finds our desires, not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased."
